Here’s a little bit about my story on how I started to invest in real estate and why.
I remember back in the early 2000’s when I was working for a large corporate company in Mississauga, ON. I was 22 years old; young, ambitious, and stuck in a cubicle. I decided that there had to be more out there for me. I started to look for my first property in Mississauga - and boy what an experience that was. The market in Toronto was booming, as it has been for many years and it made the process very difficult for a 1st time investor. After losing out on multiple properties it became very discouraging and expensive. I soon learned that these properties were selling for much more than the list price and were out of my reach.
I had grown up in Peterborough and it held my roots so I decided I would consider investing their instead. The market in Peterborough has historically done well and it’s prices were much more affordable - making my goal to invest achievable. When purchasing my 1st property My only goal at the time was to cover my cost of living in the city. My first purchase was a raised bungalow in the South-End of Peterborough (which I still hold today). With the cash flow from my first purchase I was able to cover my expenses and the cost of living in the GTA. I quickly learned that investing in Real Estate gave me more opportunities than I could have imagined
Over the years I have invested in over 25 properties in The City of Peterborough and have dealt with many different types of people from a wide variety of tenants. With my experience I have gained a great knowledge of what it takes to successfully run and operate rental properties of any caliber. When I first started to invest I was eager to learn and attended every real estate seminar I could from general construction, interior design, real estate investing, to the landlord tenant associations. I spent my weekends and evenings learning as much as I could not only to better myself but to offer my clients and my tenants the best possible service.
My goal is not to sell you just any property, but is to sell you the right property that will fit your lifestyle and will generate you the most return on your investment.
